community Transit

Community Transit has a record of delivering quality fixed-route service to residents across its PTBA in Snohomish County. In 2024, its fixed-route ridership grew the most of urban transit agencies in the Central Puget Sound (at 17%, tied with last year's award winner, Kitsap Transit). This was attributable to two major improvements to Community Transit's system: (1) the addition of the Swift Orange Line connecting Edmonds College, Lynnwood Transit Center, and McClollum Park & Ride; and (2) the agency's most significant restructure in its history, aligning routes to the extended Sound Transit Link light rail system to Lynnwood City Center in August/September. Community Transit continues to also be an innovator in microtransit, permanently implementing its Zip Alderwood service in 2024, and piloting new Zip services in three new communities for 2025. Community Transit leads the statewide conversation on microtransit, convening monthly meetings with agencies that are implementing or are interested in implementing similar services. Community Transit is an award-winning innovator in transportation demand management efforts to employees of large companies and apartment residents, and is at the forefront of exploring implementing a mixed fleet of hydrogen- and battery-electric buses.
