Although based in Snohomish County's largest city, Everett Transit serves a residential population of just 115,000 people. Everett Transit has led all agencies across the Central Puget Sound in maintaining a relatively higher percentage of its pre-pandemic ridership, and in 2024 saw the largest year-over-year growth of any Central Puget Sound transit agency: 32% for its fixed-route service. Everett Transit has been the statewide leader among small/mid-sized agencies in electrifying its fixed-route fleet, putting its first battery-electric bus into service in 2018. In 2025, it will put into service another 14 battery electric buses. It has had a plan to become fully electric within a decade, although issues with its original Proterra buses will likely unplug its plans for a bit. Everett Transit continues to improve its services, seeking to better serve the low income neighborhoods and large employers of South Everett. It's currently undergoing a major planning effort that will add new routes and service in this area, which it will implement in the fall.
